​Our Story

Assisting Incarcerated Men, Inc. was established in 2023 in response to the challenges many men face while preparing for release and returning to their communities. After witnessing the effects of incarceration on individuals, families, and communities, AIM was established to help men obtain the support, resources, and connections necessary for successful reentry. Our work includes correctional-facility outreach, reentry preparation, resource coordination, community partnerships, and the development of structured transitional housing in North Carolina.

Our mission is to help men returning from incarceration achieve stability and independence through coordinated reentry support, access to practical resources, employment and education connections, community partnerships, and the development of safe transitional housing.

Our vision is to help reduce recidivism by creating meaningful pathways from incarceration to stable, responsible, and productive community life.

Our Current Direction

AIM is currently expanding its correctional-facility outreach through volunteer service within the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction. Beginning in Wake County, our volunteers are initially supporting the religious and educational needs of incarcerated Muslim men through AIM’s voluntary faith-support initiative, Assisting Incarcerated Muslims.

Alongside this work, AIM is exploring how to develop grassroots reentry services within Wake County, strengthen community partnerships, and connect justice-involved individuals with practical resources, education, employment assistance, and other forms of reentry support. AIM is also preparing to launch a transitional-housing pilot in Durham, North Carolina. The planned residence will initially serve approximately four to six adult men returning from incarceration. Additional program information and eligibility requirements will be published as the residence moves closer to opening.
