PROGRAMS, PROJECTS & SERVICES
Assisting Incarcerated Men, Inc. is developing a coordinated approach to help men prepare for successful reentry. Our work begins during incarceration and continues through connections to practical resources, community support, and opportunities for long-term stability.
What We Are Doing Now
What We Are Building
Reentry Resource Connections
AIM is developing a network of organizations, professionals, volunteers, and community partners that can help returning citizens access:
-
Housing and transportation
-
Employment and job-readiness resources
-
Education and skills training
-
Identification documents and public benefits
-
Health, wellness, and recovery support
-
Community and peer-support services
Education and Reentry Preparation
AIM is working toward offering approved educational and reentry-preparation activities inside correctional facilities. Areas being explored include computer literacy, basic information-technology assistance, GED preparation, life skills, and planning for release.
Program availability will depend upon facility approval, qualified volunteers, partnerships, and available funding.
Transitional Housing Initiative
AIM is developing a small transitional-housing pilot in Durham, North Carolina. The planned residence is intended to begin by serving approximately four adult men returning from incarceration.
The program is being designed to help residents work toward employment, transportation, personal stability, permanent housing, and responsible community life.
Additional information—including eligibility requirements and the application process—will be published as the residence moves closer to opening.
